Odesa is preparing to expand the Dolphin beach area and create special infrastructure for people with disabilities. The Department of Engineering Protection of the City Territory and Coastal Development has been officially appointed as the customer for the design and reconstruction of the beach.

The decision was made at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Odesa City Council on April 24.

As Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov explained, the main goal of the project is to create an accessible space for all categories of citizens, including people with disabilities and veterans. It involves the construction of a special heated saltwater pool where people with limited mobility will be able to comfortably improve their health even in the cold season.

"Not everyone can go into the water due to weather conditions or physical limitations. That is why we want to create a safe, accessible swimming area equipped with lifts and special means for diving into the water," Trukhanov said.

According to the mayor's office, preparatory work is underway, and after the customer's approval, the city's target program will be amended and the necessary funding will be allocated.

The meeting also showed a visualization of one of the similar projects - a modern swimming pool with all the necessary equipment for people in wheelchairs. Although this project is not yet finalized, the idea is already being actively developed.

The mayor assured that the project will allow Odesa residents with disabilities to have equal access to seaside recreation and rehabilitation, so there is no time to delay its implementation.
