Mykolaiv region to cooperate with communities in Japan and France in restoration

At the Third International Summit of Cities and Regions, the leaders of Mykolaiv and the region together with the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Kobe, Yoshihiko Okabe, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

According to Vitaliy Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, these are steps towards the restoration and development of the region, as well as a step towards deeper integration of Mykolaiv region into the global community.

"Thanks to the support of the Hyogo and JICA governments, projects for the Mykolaiv region are already being implemented: humanitarian aid, equipment for the Mykolaiv waterworks and rescuers, and an excavator for the Pervomaisk community. In the fall, our specialists will take part in a Japanese mental health program," the official said.

He also said that Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych had signed a Memorandum of Understanding on long-term partnership in education, culture, sustainable development, and economy with partners from the municipality of Montpellier.

Kim also added that during the event, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented the Golden Heart Award for significant personal contribution to the provision of charitable and humanitarian assistance in the context of Russian military aggression, support for state sovereignty and territorial integrity to the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Kobe, Yoshihiko Okabe. The head of the OVA received a certificate of honor from Yoshihiko Okabe of the Association of Ukrainianists of Japan.

Earlier, Mykolaiv signed an agreement with Denmark on employment development. The project aims to create an effective platform for cooperation between authorities, businesses and public organizations that will contribute to the sustainable development of the region and improve employment. Cooperation with Danish universities and businesses is also planned, which will contribute to the development of industry and science. Denmark can help Ukraine attract investments and technological support, as well as facilitate exchanges between scientific institutions.

In addition, Germany intends to implement new projects to improve medical and social services in the Mykolaiv region, particularly in the field of construction infrastructure to support medical and social initiatives such as rehabilitation.
