In Mykolaiv region, it was decided to combine all video surveillance cameras into a single system and increase the authorized capital of the regional guard by 12 million.
At a meeting of the commission, it was decided to increase the authorized capital of the Mykolaiv Regional Guard by UAH 12 million. These funds, allocated by order of the head of the Mykolaiv Military Administration, will be used to create a new unit that will be responsible for the operation of the situation center in the region.
The main goal of the new unit is to create a secure information space by integrating video surveillance cameras into a single system. This will allow for more effective control of the crime situation, prompt response to offenses, and increased security for residents of the region.
In addition to government funding, the project plans to raise additional funds from international donors and private businesses. It is assumed that entrepreneurs who are already installing cameras at their facilities will be able to integrate them into the overall system, strengthening control and minimizing budget costs.
The conclusion of the specialized commission has now been prepared and will be submitted to the session after technical amendments. Once the decision is approved, the Situation Center is expected to start operating, significantly improving the level of security in Mykolaiv Oblast.
It was planned to complete the construction ofthe Safe City system in Mykolaiv in March last year. In 2023, the project was only partially funded, which led to changes to the construction contract.
In early December 2024, it was planned to install 10,000 video surveillance cameras in the communities of the region. Viacheslav Bazarenko, a freelance digitalization adviser to the head of Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, announced the creation of a situation center that will be responsible for rapid response to emergencies and management of local resources.
Currently, more than 1000 cameras are connected to the system. In 2024, law enforcement officers solved more than 3,000 serious and especially serious crimes, of which more than 1,100 were solved using the video surveillance system.
