Since the beginning of the year, some medical workers in Mykolaiv have not yet seen their salaries. These are the employees of Maternity Hospital No. 3 and the emergency hospital. The city health department assures that payments will be made by the end of February.

The problem became known during a meeting of the city council's committee on housing and communal services.

Deputy Iryna Boychenko, elected from the OPFL, raised the issue of debts to doctors.

Mykola Berezhnyk, deputy head of the city health department, explained that the delay was due to the late conclusion of the contract with the National Health Service of Ukraine.

"All institutions receive salaries, except for maternity hospital No. 3 and the emergency hospital. The problem is that they signed an agreement with the NHSU later. However, now the money is starting to come in, and we expect that by the end of February all debts will be paid off," Berezhnyk explained.

He also added that maternity hospital No. 3 has debts for December 2024, but there are funds in the accounts, and the doctors will receive their payments in the near future.

Meanwhile, Mykolaiv has planned a major overhaul of the city's children's hospital, including facade insulation, new windows and a modern roof. The city budget allocated more than UAH 17 million out of the required UAH 52 million.

The Mykolaiv Regional Children's Clinical Hospital is also planning a large-scale reconstruction that will cover several buildings of the medical institution. UAH 167 million is planned to be allocated for these works in 2025-2026. In addition, a modern children's diagnostic center with a transition to an inpatient facility and a civil defense shelter for 500 people is planned to be built in Mykolaiv. The cost of the project will be almost UAH 790 million, of which only 0.53% will be financed from the local budget.
