Mykolaiv City Council to Resume Session on March 6, 2025 - 21 Land Issues on Agenda

Mykolaiv has decided to continue the session of the city council. Last time, the meeting was adjourned due to a lack of votes.

This is evidenced by the order of the mayor Oleksandr Senkevych.

The continuation of the plenary meeting of the regular forty-first session of the Mykolaiv City Council of the VIII convocation is scheduled to begin on March 6, 2025 at 11:00 am.

The meeting will be held remotely via video conference. As always, Intent will broadcast the event online.

At the last session, the deputies have already considered current and budgetary issues, and now only land issues remain. Senkevych held a vote and found that there were 27 deputies, after which he adjourned the plenary session of the Mykolaiv City Council.

There are 21 land issues left on the agenda. In general, they relate to draft decisions on extending the lease of land plots for trade pavilions and kiosks, covered areas for waiting for public transport, and approval of technical documentation on land management for the merger of plots. The relevant requests were sent to the city authorities by individual entrepreneurs and private enterprises.

Mykolaiv City Council has been working in a remote format for more than two years, holding sessional meetings online. However, this form of work raises questions, in particular regarding the transparency of voting: it is not always clear on the screen whether a deputy is present, although the quorum is formally confirmed. Often, a significant number of MPs do not turn on their cameras, which raises doubts about the legitimacy of the sessions and decisions made. Some MPs turn off the video after confirming their presence, making it difficult to monitor their actual participation in the session.

At the session held on February 27, 2025, Mykolaiv planned to reconstruct and build important facilities, including medical institutions, schools, and administrative buildings. These investment projects are aimed at modernizing social infrastructure.

In addition, the city approved a participatory budgeting program that will allow city residents to participate in the distribution of part of the city budget. The total amount of funding for the program is over UAH 45 million.

And Mykolaivelectrotrans received an additional UAH 12 million to increase its authorized capital, which will allow it to expand the range of services it provides. The company plans to develop new areas, including infrastructure modernization and production of equipment for the defense forces.
