The Kherson State Maritime Academy may lose its independence due to a possible reorganization or merger. The first deputy chairman of the Kherson Regional Council, Yuriy Sobolevsky, and the deputies of the regional council, who appealed to the country's leadership, opposed this.

The text of the Kherson Regional Council's appeal to the President of Ukraine is published on the regional council's website.

The deputies sent an appeal to the President of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Education and the relevant committees of the Verkhovna Rada. They emphasize that it is inappropriate to optimize the institution on a sectoral basis in the place of temporary relocation.

The appeal emphasizes that Kherson State Maritime Academy is an important educational brand in the region that has trained many generations of Ukrainian sailors. The deputies expressed hope that the Academy will continue its work in full.

In addition, the deputies expressed their unequivocal support for the current President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. They emphasized that it was he who became a symbol of the resilience of the Ukrainian people in the first days of the full-scale invasion, mobilized international support and acted as a voice of resistance.

The President's communication with the international community has played a key role in building strong global support for Ukraine. Thanks to his efforts, the country received military, financial and political assistance.

The MPs emphasized that Ukrainians should remain united around the President, who is defending the country's independence. They emphasized that no compromises that threaten the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine can be acceptable.

"Nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine!" - this position is unshakable, and a just peace is possible only on Ukraine's terms: the liberation of the occupied territories, the aggressor's responsibility for crimes and guarantees of security in the future.

It should be noted that the authorities do not broadcast the sessions of the Kherson Regional Council online.

Recently, at an extraordinary session, the Mykolaiv Regional Council decided to support President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi. The vote was unanimous - 40 deputies voted in favor.

In turn , Anatoliy Boyko, head of the Odesa regional organization of the Committee of Voters of Ukraine, said in a commentary to Intent that in this case, the form of voting does not matter, because the decision itself has no legal consequences:

"This decision of the Mykolaiv regional council is purely political and has no legal significance, so in this case the form of the regional council session, where the presence of deputies was not shown, is also irrelevant," the expert explained.- "At the same time, I would like to note that local councils should move away from the practice of holding online meetings, except for Kherson, where another form of meetings is impossible.
