Ivan Liptuga resigns as Director of the Department of Culture of Odesa City Council

Ivan Liptuga has completed his work as director of the Department of International Cooperation, Culture and Marketing of the Odesa City Council.
He announced this on Facebook.
Earlier, the NGO Decolonization. Ukraine published an appeal to the heads of the Odesa City Council Serhiy Lysak and acting Mayor Ihor Koval demanding the dismissal of Ivan Liptuga.
The authors of the appeal stated that for more than a year, there has been no action to dismantle the symbols of the "Russian world" that violate the law on decolonization. During this time, Liptuga and the department he heads have allegedly been writing back and delaying decisions under various pretexts, including the status of the monuments on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Ivan Liptuga was appointed head of the Department of Culture in January 2023. He has a degree in economics and law, and was the director of the Department of Tourism and Resorts of the Ministry of Economic Development of Ukraine. He is the president of the National Tourism Organization and Ukraine's marketing representative at the International Chamber of Commerce.
In 2019, Liptuga participated in the development of a tourism brand for unrecognized Transnistria.
Among his main achievements, Liptuga noted the preservation of the "Historic Center of Odesa" in UNESCO, multicultural weeks emphasizing the multinational character of Odesa, and the development of the Odesa Tourist Office and a modern approach to destination development and promotion of the city.
Ivan Liptuga plans to develop the UNESCO club movement in Ukraine and does not rule out a new role in business.
