In Odesa, the wind felled trees on cars and kiosks

Gusts of stormy winds in Odesa have knocked down 11 trees and large branches.
According to the Miskzelentrest utility company, the trees damaged the cars of Odesa residents and a trade kiosk.
"Employees of the utility have almost completed work to eliminate the consequences of the bad weather," the company said.
Earlier, the Black Sea and Azov Sea Hydrometeorological Center warned of dangerous meteorological phenomena of the first level (yellow) of danger in Odesa.
"A squall of 15-20 m/s is expected in the next hour on July 16 during a thunderstorm," the statement said.
At the same time, the Odesa City Hall appealed to Odesa residents and visitors to be vigilant, to limit their movements and travels as much as possible, especially for the elderly, children and pregnant women.
"Please do not leave vehicles under trees and power lines, move carefully under trees as branches and cables may fall due to strong gusty winds," the municipality said.
At the beginning of the year, the Center for Public Investigations calculated that, according to last year's decisions of the courts of first instance and those that have entered into force, at least UAH 1.9 million in compensation should be paid from the Odesa budget.
In 2024, Odesa courts issued 313 decisions on civil cases in which the Odesa City Council or the executive committee of the city council or its departments acted as defendant or co-defendant.
Almost half of these decisions concerned claims for compensation for damage to property - the so-called Odesa tree fall. That is, when trees that were supposed to be removed or branches that were supposed to be cut fell on cars.
In addition to the cases that have already been reviewed and decided, at least 10 cases of compensation for tree falls are pending. The total value of these claims is UAH 2.4 million.
