The first deputy mayor of Teplodar in Odesa region, Andriy Makovetsky , has decided to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was announced by Oleksandr Hrynchak, head of the Odesa District Military Administration.
"The love for Ukraine inspired our colleague, father of four, First Deputy Mayor of Teplodar, Andriy Makovetsky, to start his career as a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," he wrote.
It should be noted that he is not the first person to resign as deputy mayor and join the Armed Forces in Odesa region.
In November 2023, two officials were dismissed from the executive committee in Odesa: Dmytro Zheman, former deputy mayor of Hennadii Trukhanov, and Serhii Tetiukhin, first deputy mayor. As it became known during the session, Serhiy Tetyukhin joined the ranks of the Armed Forces.
Prior to that, in October of the same year, Deputy Mayor Oleh Bryndak was dismissed from his position as vice mayor until the day he was actually discharged from military service.
In July, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine granted a motion by detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and prosecutors to extend the investigation into businessman Volodymyr Halanternyk 's suspicion of creating a criminal organization in Odesa.
This concerned Inna Popovska, head of the legal department of the mayor's office, and Oleh Bryndak, deputy mayor of Odesa.
In 2015-2016, Oleh Bryndak received an unlawful benefit in the form of a discount of UAH 2 million 769 thousand 248 for apartments with a total area of more than 152 square meters located in the Greenwood residential complex.
Also, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine failed to consider in a timely manner the issue of extending the duties assigned to the deputy mayors of Odesa, Svitlana Bedrega and Oleg Bryndak.
As of July 17, their duties expired, so the court was forced to close the proceedings at the request of the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
