Updated! Odesa City Council Approves Early Termination of Lyudmyla Varavva's Powers

Members of the Odesa City Council granted the application of their colleague Lyudmyla Varavva for early termination of her powers as a member of the Odesa City Council.

The decision was made during a session on December 4.

The deputy was elected to the city council in 2020 as a representative of Hennadii Trukhanov's Trust the Deeds party, but currently lives in the United States and does not attend city council sessions. In the city council, she was also a member of the commission on municipal property, economic, investment policy, and entrepreneurship. Therefore, there will also be changes in the composition of this commission after the deputy is deprived of her powers.

In 2010-2012, the deputy held the position of Deputy Head of the Odesa Regional Administration for Investment Policy and Transport in the region. In 2013-2015, she was the head of the State Inspectorate for Consumer Protection in Odesa Oblast. In 2015-2017, she was an assistant to the People's Deputy of Ukraine.

14:27 Instead of Lyudmyla Varavva, Antonina Kaprosh, an associate professor at Odesa National Medical University, has been elected to the city council.

It is worth noting that unlike the election of Oleksandr Slavskyi as a representative of the "Servant of the People" party, the city territorial election commission and the city council acted with record efficiency in the case of the new "Trust the Deeds" deputy. Thus, Oleksandr Slavskyi could not get into the council for more than a month because the deputies refused to deprive Oleksandra Kovalchuk of her mandate.

These are not the first changes in the composition of the deputy corps. In June, the Odesa Territorial Election Commission announced the intention of MP Olena Zefner from the now banned Shariy Party to resign her mandate, and Oleksandr Slavskyi joined the council as a representative of the Servant of the People party.

The April 24 session was attended for the first time by two new deputies of the Odesa City Council, registered by the Odesa City Territorial Election Commission - Andriy Sharashidze and Maryna Boyko.

Andrii Sharashidze was elected to the city council as a representative of the Servant of the People party, and Maryna Boyko was elected as a representative of the European Solidarity party.

The fact is that on November 29, 2023, the council secretary, Ihor Koval, submitted two draft decisions on the early termination of the powers of deputies Olena Korobkova from the Servant of the People faction and Vadym Tereshchuk from the European Solidarity faction.

According to Article 284 of the Electoral Code of Ukraine, in case of early termination of the powers of a city council member, the next in line candidate for deputy in the relevant territorial or single electoral list from that party organization is recognized as a deputy by the decision of the election commission.
