A presentation of Admiral Andriy Tarasov’s book on the development of warships took place at the Hrushevsky Library in Odesa. Cadets attended the event
An Intenta correspondent attended the book presentation.
The book is titled “From Sailing Ships to Steel Giants: An Essay on the Evolution of Warships (1860–1919).” The author is Admiral Andriy Tarasov.
The book was presented by maritime writer, translator, and publisher Anton Sanchenko. Among the guests were cadets, including those from the Institute of Naval Forces at the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy.”

The author of the book examined the development of the navies of various countries from 1860 to 1919. During this period, shipbuilding evolved from the last wooden sailing ships of the line to the emergence of the first aircraft carriers.
The book is intended for both specialists and readers interested in the sea, ships, and the history of naval forces. The author explains complex technical and historical processes in an accessible way and shows how warships evolved over the course of six decades.

In his review, historian Andriy Krasnozhon called the book a thorough and detailed study that combines expert knowledge of naval history with literary skill. He also noted the wealth of details that will be of interest to naval enthusiasts.
A distinctive feature of the publication is the illustrations from Andriy Tarasov’s personal collection. The book’s graphic design was created by Yuriy Zhuravel.
