The Mykolaiv Regional Museum of Local Lore received an unusual gift - a rare old chimney that used to decorate the family home in the village of Ivanovo, Kirovohrad region.
According to the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional Museum of Local Lore, this artifact was donated to the museum by a resident of Mykolaiv, Olga Savchenko, who kept the valuable item after the death of her husband, Valeriy Savchenko.
The chimney is striking in its appearance: embossed flowers, decorative belts, and bright brownish-yellow watering add to its elegance. Its surface shone in the sun, turning an ordinary part of the chimney into a work of art.
Museum experts assume that the chimney was made in the village of Tsvitne, a famous pottery center of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. In Tsvitne, thin-walled dishes and chimney elements were created, which were popular in southern Ukraine.
Soon the chimney will take its place in the museum's exposition after restoration work.

Museum workers thank Olga Savchenko and all the people who care who donate unique items to museums, preserving the memory of past generations.
An exhibition featuring ancient sledges was opened in Mykolaiv. In the past, sleds were used not only for entertainment but also for cargo transportation.
Recently, the Mykolaiv Regional Museum of Local Lore received antique tiles from a fireplace preserved in one of the city's historic buildings. While restoring the exposition after the damage caused by shelling, the restorers proposed the idea of reconstructing the fireplace. The work turned out to be difficult, as some of the tiles were lost.
In early December, the album created for the Mykolaiv Regional Museum of Local Lore won a special jury award at the Best Book Design 2024 competition organized by the Book Arsenal. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the album go to support and develop the museum. This is a great opportunity to get a unique book and help preserve the historical heritage of Mykolaiv.
