The structure of municipal hospitals in Mykolaiv has been changed

One of the most ambitious phases of reforming the city’s healthcare system has been completed in Mykolaiv. As of August 1, three specialized medical facilities—City Hospitals No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5—are officially operating in the city.
This was reported by the Mykolaiv City Council.
City Hospital No. 4 now consists of three branches: City Hospital No. 1, City Children’s Hospital No. 2, and the Emergency Medical Care Hospital.
According to Iryna Shamray, head of the City Council’s Health Department, more than 1,500 employees were transferred to the new structure as part of the reorganization. The re-registration of employees in state registries and information systems was completed in just two days.
“In two days, we accomplished a task that, as far as I know, no one has ever undertaken on such a scale. All managers have been assigned positions, and all employees have been transferred,” noted Iryna Shamray.
The next stage of the reform is currently underway—signing contracts with the National Health Service of Ukraine. The new structure provides for 2,304 staff positions, and medical workers are being transferred to the electronic healthcare system in accordance with the updated structure.
City council officials noted that the reorganization is intended to ensure that hospitals comply with the requirements of the Ministry of Health and to enable them to enter into contracts with the National Health Service of Ukraine for a greater number of medical service packages with higher levels of funding.
Recently, the Mykolaiv City Council adopted a resolution on a large-scale reorganization of the city’s healthcare network. It calls for merging hospitals into a single structure and transferring one of the maternity hospitals to regional ownership.
As Intent previously reported, Mykolaiv announced plans to renovate Children’s Hospital No. 2, including insulating the facade and replacing the windows; however, no funds have yet been allocated for the work. Due to a lack of funding, the start date for the renovation has not yet been determined.
