In the Kryvoozerska community in Mykolaiv region, 22 people, including a two-year-old child, were hospitalized with food poisoning after a memorial dinner.
Law enforcement officers discovered the information about the mass poisoning on May 25 while monitoring social media and the Internet. The report was registered in the Unified Register of Statements and Reports of Criminal Offenses and Other Events.
Police found that the memorial dinner took place on May 22. The event was organized by the owner of one of the temporarily closed cafes in the Kryvoozerska community.
It is preliminarily known that as of the morning of May 26, 22 residents of the district had turned to medical institutions. Among the hospitalized is a two-year-old child.
All patients are being treated in hospital and receiving the necessary medical care. According to doctors, there is currently no threat to the lives and health of the victims.
Specialists are conducting sanitary and epidemiological surveys and laboratory tests to establish the source of the poisoning and its causes.
Currently, law enforcement officers are investigating all the circumstances of the incident and deciding on the legal classification of the incident.
A month ago, Mykolaiv police received a report of cases of acute intestinal infection among pupils of one of the city's kindergartens. Before that, law enforcement officers launched a pre-trial investigation into the mass poisoning of children in one of the city's entertainment venues. Seven children with symptoms of an acute intestinal infection sought medical attention. Two of them were hospitalized. Investigators found out that the day before, the children had visited the entertainment venue and ate fast food, including chicken nuggets, pizza and burgers. These products are currently being considered as a possible source of poisoning.
