The incidence of influenza, ARVI and COVID-19 has increased in Mykolaiv region: who is sick

As of January 13, 2025, the incidence of influenza, ARVI, including COVID-19, in the Mykolaiv region remains within seasonal fluctuations and does not exceed the epidemic threshold.
This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Over the past week (January 06-12), the incidence rate is 212.6 per 100 thousand people, which is 40.9% higher than last week. 2320 people fell ill, of whom 1218 were children (an increase of 28.3% in the children's group), and 1102 were adults (an increase of 57.9%). The highest incidence among children is observed in the age groups under 4 years (36.3%) and 5-14 years (51.5%). Among adults, people aged 18-29, 30-64, and over 65 who have not been vaccinated in the last year are more likely to get sick.
At the district level, the rates also do not exceed the epidemic threshold: in Bashtanka district, the incidence is 69.4% lower, in Voznesensk district - 58.2%, in Mykolaiv district - 50%, and in Pervomaisk district - 66.9%. In Mykolaiv, the incidence rate is 2.6 times lower than the epidemic threshold. 105 people were hospitalized, including 1 with COVID-19. No severe cases were reported among the hospitalized. No flu-related deaths have been reported, but 8 elderly people who had comorbidities and had not been vaccinated have died of COVID-19 complications since the beginning of the season. There have been no fatalities due to COVID-19 over the past week.
Since the beginning of the epidemic season, 1026 people have been vaccinated against influenza, including 594 healthcare workers. The virology laboratory tested 1804 samples, of which 13.9% were positive. 78 cases of SARS-CoV-2, 25 cases of parainfluenza, 57 cases of adenoviruses, 66 cases of rhinoviruses, and 14 cases of RS viruses were detected. The situation in the region remains stable, with utilities and medical facilities continuing to monitor and take preventive measures.
