A hospital in Mykolaiv has received additional funding from the budget to set up a prosthetic workshop. UAH 25 million was allocated for this purpose.
At a meeting of the City Council's Standing Committee on Human Rights, Children, Family, Legality, and Publicity, the draft decision to increase the authorized capital of the municipal non-profit enterprise City Hospital No. 4 and approve its newly revised charter was supported.
The only change in the document was an increase in capital by UAH 25 million. As noted during the discussion, these funds had already been used and were allocated to purchase a building to set up a prosthetic and orthotic workshop on the hospital's premises.
The Commission has repeatedly considered this issue, in particular at meetings on health care. They emphasized that the funding was used for its intended purpose and would contribute to the development of medical services in the city.
Following the vote, the commission supported the decision and recommended it for consideration at the city council session to be held on March 27.
It was decided to open the prosthetic and orthotic workshop at City Hospital No. 4 in September last year. The city has already received the necessary equipment from its partners and plans to purchase premises for its arrangement. The opening of the prosthetic center in Mykolaiv will allow residents to receive the necessary assistance locally, without having to travel to other regions, which will greatly simplify the process of servicing prostheses.
Last year, the German company Horus Prosthetics GmbH, which specializes in the manufacture of lower limb prostheses, arrived in the city. They installed prostheses for nine patients free of charge. And in early March 2025, Mykolaiv doctors were trained in Germany to improve their skills in prosthetics. During the course, the doctors mastered modern methods of manufacturing individual prostheses, which will improve the quality of medical services, in particular for those affected by the war.
