Despite the full-scale war, Mykolaiv's medical system continues to develop. Hospitals are receiving modern equipment and creating comfortable conditions for patients and medical staff. In total, medical institutions have provided assistance to more than 57,000 citizens.

This was reported by the press service of Mykolaiv City Council.

The results of the healthcare industry in 2023 were discussed during the board of the healthcare department. Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych emphasized that the quality of medical services directly affects the health of Mykolaiv residents, so the city council systematically invests in the modernization of hospitals and the renewal of their material and technical base.

Last year, almost 57 thousand patients were treated in hospitals, and doctors performed more than 20.5 thousand surgeries. Medical care was provided to 7.6 thousand war victims, including the military.

According to Irina Shamrai, head of the healthcare department, considerable attention was paid to equipping hospitals. The city budget funds were used to purchase 32 pieces of modern medical equipment, including a mobile angiograph, a laparoscopic stand, a computed tomography scanner for dentistry, a mammography scanner, and other important devices.

In 2024, a number of important projects were implemented thanks to funding from the city and international partners. We opened a renovated X-ray room in Hospital No. 1, completed the renovation of the surgical department of Hospital No. 5, created a free dental care room for children with special needs, and equipped an oxygen network in Maternity Hospital No. 3. We also repaired a mammography room, renovated three primary health care centers and arranged shelters in nine medical institutions.

We also purchased 55 hearing aids for privileged categories of citizens, of which 124 have already been installed. We have also installed 150 joint replacement devices, 89 of which were purchased at the expense of the city and the rest were received centrally. The city continues to provide free dental prosthetics: 498 beneficiaries have already benefited from it this year.

In addition, Mykolaiv has allocated more than UAH 200 million in the 2025 budget for the development of the healthcare sector. The main emphasis is on financing hospitals and maternity hospitals and implementing preferential programs.

In addition , 85 medical facilities in the Mykolaivregion have been equipped with shelters, 80% of which are in full or partial readiness. In particular, protective structures were created at the Regional Clinical Hospital, Children's Clinical Hospital and Mykolaiv Regional Clinical Hospital for War Veterans.

The city authorities allocated UAH 9 million to purchase materials and support the hospitals ' operations. Hospital No. 4 performed 1049 plastic surgeries, including 290 for military personnel. Rehabilitation assistance was provided to 3336 people, including 231 military personnel. Also, during the year, 8120 donors joined the blood donation campaign and supported patients in this difficult time.
