More than 50 healthcare facilities restored in Kherson region

In the de-occupied part of Kherson region, 135 medical facilities are actively operating, including 56 restored after hostile attacks. In particular, we managed to restore four completely destroyed rural health posts, and thanks to the support of international partners, 28 modular medical trailers were installed in the region's communities. More than 750 doctors and more than 1,600 medical workers are involved in treating the population.

This was stated in an interview with Ukrinform by Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the Kherson Regional Medical Association.

Despite this, there is a shortage of personnel in the region, especially in rural areas, where only 63.5% of doctors are engaged in primary health care. At the same time, more than 1,300 heart surgeries have been performed in the region, and medical facilities are currently in need of narrow specialists, including neurosurgeons and traumatologists.

To improve access to medical services, mobile teams are being deployed in cooperation with international organizations. In 2024, more than 10 thousand people were examined using mobile fluoroscopes.

Unfortunately, the medical infrastructure was not without problems: Russian shelling affected the regional oncology center, but the medical equipment was evacuated in time. Now the regional cancer center is temporarily located in other medical institutions in Kherson.

"Underground hospitals" have been set up in three medical institutions in Kherson Oblast to ensure the safety of patients and medical staff even during shelling.

Earlier, in the Novovorontsov community of Kherson region, a modern shelter was set up in the hospital. Intent has already written that one of the hospitals in Kherson has also completed repairs, installed the necessary medical equipment and now the premises are fully ready to receive patients.

Also, a bomb shelter in one of Kherson's medical institutions was restored and re-equipped to provide medical services.
