In Kherson region, 12 new telemedicine centers have been opened where residents can receive free medical consultations without leaving their community.
According to the Kherson Regional Healthcare Administration, appointments are held in local outpatient clinics using modern telemedicine equipment. The process involves specialists from medical institutions in Kherson and other cities of Ukraine.
To use the service, you need to get a referral from your family doctor. The nurse will schedule a consultation at a convenient time without queues and unnecessary waiting. During the session, she will assist the doctor by measuring blood pressure, saturation, temperature, and using rapid tests to check sugar, cholesterol, and hemoglobin levels.
Modern telemedicine equipment allows medical indicators to be transmitted to the doctor remotely. An electronic stethoscope records the sound of the heart and lungs, and the doctor listens to it in real time. An electronic otoscope makes it possible to take photos and videos of the ear, throat, and nose for ENT examination. Cardiologists can remotely analyze ECGs, and traumatologists can view X-rays, CT scans, or MRIs.
Telemedicine allows community residents to receive quality medical care without having to travel to the regional center, saving time and money.
The telemedicine centers were opened by the NGO "Keysers" within the framework of the EMPOWER project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in cooperation with the European Union and implemented by GIZ Ukraine, as well as through the Crisis and Support Center of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and in partnership with Médecins du Monde France.
Meanwhile, in Kherson region, mobile medical teams continue to provide assistance to children in the de-occupied territories.
In addition, volunteer medics have provided assistance to more than five hundred residents of the Kochubeev community. Also, about 900 residents of Kherson region have already been examined with a mobile fluoroscope.
