A new item in the socio-economic development program was approved in Mykolaiv. It is planned to purchase a building to create a prosthetic and orthotic workshop.
This is stated in the decision of the Executive Committee of the Mykolaiv City Council.
The Mykolaiv City Council has made an addition to the City's Economic and Social Development Program for 2024-2026 aimed at improving the healthcare system.
According to the new paragraph, the project to purchase a building to equip a prosthetic and orthotic workshop was added to the activities of the Healthcare section. It is planned that the workshop will be established on the basis of City Hospital No. 4 at 1A Pavlo Skoropadskoho Street.
It will provide prosthetics, primarily for military personnel, which will restore the functions of lost limbs and improve the quality of life of patients.
According to the decision, the project involves the joint responsibility of the health department, the municipal property department, and the hospital. Its implementation will be a significant step towards supporting veterans and others in need of prosthetics.
Control over the implementation of the decision was entrusted to the Commission on Economic and Investment Policy of the City Council and the First Deputy Mayor. But first, the draft decision will be considered at the next session of the Mykolaiv City Council, which will be held on November 28, 2024 at 11:00 am.
At the next plenary session, Mykolaiv deputies will consider the city's economic development, inclusiveness, and financial assistance to citizens.
The city planned to open the prosthetic and orthotic workshop back in September. The necessary equipment was provided by international partners.
The German company Horus Prosthetics arrived in Mykolaiv in August. Doctors prosthetized nine soldiers using artificial intelligence for free. The specialists made a prosthesis that perfectly matched the patient's anatomical parameters. The whole process took 90 to 120 minutes.
The prosthetics will be free of charge for patients, as the Ministry of Social Policy reimburses the cost of prosthetics. The waiting list for prosthetics in Mykolaiv already includes hundreds of people, and the need for such a center is very high.
