Mykolaiv hospital receives modern X-ray machine from France

City Hospital No. 3 received a modern surgical X-ray machine for the urology department. The assistance came from the French humanitarian association Chain of Hope.

This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv Health Department.

According to the head of the urology department, Oleg Savelyev, the C-arc is designed to diagnose pathologies and perform surgical operations, providing high image quality. It allows you to accurately determine the nature, size, and location of pathological lesions right during surgery. This reduces the time of complex operations and reduces risks for patients.

Mostly, these are planned operations, but we also often deal with combat injuries, when urgent care is required. This equipment will be extremely useful in urgent situations," the doctor added.

According to the expert, the new equipment will be used in the urology operating room to treat a wide range of diseases, including urolithiasis, tumor removal, ureteral and kidney stenting, correction of urinary incontinence, etc.

Since the beginning of the year, the hospital's urology department has performed 147 surgeries, 96 of which were performed using minimally invasive techniques.

Recently, Mykolaiv became a part of the international initiative"Healthy Cities". A memorandum was signed with the Danish medical company Novo Nordisk. This made Mykolaiv the 50th city in the world and the second in Ukraine after Kyiv to join the program aimed at preventing chronic diseases.

Mykolaiv is also implementing a rehabilitation system for babies born prematurely or sickly. Three medical institutions have signed agreements with the National Health Service of Ukraine to provide services.

In August, the region received over one hundred million hryvnias from the Government to implement healthcare projects. Six infrastructure projects are currently being implemented in the region. The key issues in the medical sector were outlined, including the development of a network of rehabilitation units. As of August 2024, only six medical institutions in the region are contracted by the NHSU in this area.
