Cases of coronavirus decreased in Mykolaiv region

Cases of coronavirus, influenza and other seasonal diseases have decreased in Mykolaiv. No fatalities were reported last week.

This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

A weekly meeting of the Operational Center for Emergency Response to Public Health Situations of the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine was held.

During the meeting, the center's staff reviewed the weekly infectious disease rates in the region. As a result, they noted a 10.5% decrease in the incidence of influenza, ARVI and COVID-19. According to the center's experts, this level is in line with seasonal norms. No fatalities were registered last week, and the number of hospitalized people is 133. They also discussed the implementation of preventive measures against SARS among healthcare workers.

The meeting also discussed sanitary and hygienic issues, including monitoring of air, water quality and radiation gamma background at control points in the region. According to the results of studies conducted from October 1 to 4, the dust concentration in the region does not exceed the maximum permissible values set by hygiene standards. Most of the dust is moving in the upper atmosphere. Risk levels were assessed and further response steps were identified.

In addition, they analyzed dangerous events and emergencies that occurred both in Ukraine and abroad. Based on the results of the discussions, the relevant instructions were given and deadlines for their implementation were set.

Recently, vaccines were delivered to Mykolaiv region to ensure continuous work on COVID-19 prevention. The vaccines were delivered for both children and adults. The Center's specialists delivered 2396 doses of Comirnaty vaccines, produced in Belgium, to each medical institution that provides immunization. In addition, 200 doses of vaccines were transferred for vaccination of children.

Mass cases of coronavirus in the region began to be reported in early August. Due to the rising incidence, experts urged people to get vaccinated. According to them, vaccination is the most effective way to protect against complications.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to end the quarantine and state of emergency introduced in connection with the coronavirus pandemic at the end of June 2023.

COVID-19 was first diagnosed in Ukraine on March 3, 2020, in Chernivtsi, and the first death was recorded on March 13 of the same year. The first case of coronavirus disease was detected in Odesa region on March 25, 2020. On the same day, the first case of infection was confirmed in Kherson region. The first two cases of coronavirus disease in the Mykolaiv region were detected on April 12, 2020.
