A municipal official has died in Odesa

Denis Yagupenko, head of the Legal and Human Resources Division of the Municipal Security Department of the Odesa City Council, died on February 3 at the age of 34.
This was reported by the department’s press office.
“During wartime, sometimes the heart cannot withstand the intense stress and stops. It is very sad when this happens to such young people. He was a decent and ambitious person; it was largely thanks to him that, at the start of the war, a volunteer unit of the Odesa territorial community was formed, and legal support was provided on an ongoing basis for a significant portion of the Odesa City Council’s aid to the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the department noted.
Meanwhile, the publication USI, citing its own sources, reports that Denys Yagupenko was relaxing with his family at one of the bathhouses on Frantsuzsky Boulevard when he suddenly lost consciousness. Unfortunately, doctors were unable to save him.
Also, People’s Artist and TV hostAnatoliy Dryzhenkorecentlydied in Odesa at the age of 83.
Earlier,Yevgen Khait, an Odessa-based actor, poet, playwright, producer, blogger, and screenwriter for the project “Naked and Funny,”diedon the morning of January 21, 2024, from cardiac arrest.
Also this January, news broke of the deathof lawyerand public figureOleg Nikolin, due to illness in Odesa, as well as that of chess composer, world champion in this discipline, grandmaster, and formereditor-in-chief ofthe magazine “Problemist of Ukraine,”Yuriy Gordian.
In October 2023,Serhiy Gladkov, a Ukrainian actor and screenwriter for the video comic magazine “Kalambur,”passed away. He was 60 years old.
Also, on September 28 of that year,Andriy Dobrolyubsky, a renowned Odesa-based Doctor of Historical Sciences, professor, and archaeologist,diedat the age of 75. He graduated from the History Department of Odesa University and completed his postgraduate studies in the Department of Ancient and Medieval History. Starting in 1992, he worked at the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University in Odesa.
