Verkhovna Rada begins drafting law on postwar elections

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is drafting a bill on holding elections after the end of the war.
This was stated by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk on television, Ukrinform reported.
"We are working on this bill, because the next elections require a new special bill that will regulate the so-called post-war elections," Stefanchuk said.
He noted that Ukraine will face many challenges after the end of the war, and their nature will largely depend on how and when it ends.
"But we are preparing different scenarios from the basic ones so that people can realize their fundamental constitutional right to choose. And this should be the case in Ukraine. And I think we will be able to find this right legislative compromise," said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
Last year, against the backdrop of possible ceasefire negotiations with Russia, there was talk of holding presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine. At the time , Anatoliy Boyko, head of the Odesa regional organization of the Committee of Voters of Ukraine, predicted that if a peace or truce agreement was signed, elections in the country would be 99% possible.
His confidence in the possibility of holding elections next year was reinforced by the revitalization of the voter register, in particular, the Central Election Commission resumed the work of the register. In addition, political parties, according to the Odesa CVU, have been conducting preparatory processes for a year.
However, the head of the Odesa regional commission did not predict the exact date of the elections. Anatoliy Boyko emphasized that it would most likely be both presidential and parliamentary elections. He also predicted changes in the legislation regarding the elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
At the time, Anatoliy Boyko also noted that the elections would be very difficult and with a lot of dirt, but that it was not worth expecting quality results.
