Mykolaiv hosted a shooting training course "Shooting 1.0" where citizens could learn how to handle weapons and get acquainted with their types.
This was reported by Suspilne.
The shooting training was organized by the military of the 140th separate reconnaissance battalion. The participants got acquainted with the types of weapons, equipment and basic safety rules.
According to Olha Napkhanenko, a volunteer with the Serhiy Prytula Charitable Foundation, such events are held monthly.
It is not only about knowledge of weapons, but also about realizing the importance of protection. For those who have not yet realized that there is a war in the country, this is a way to feel the reality," the volunteer said.
The instructors talked about pistols, machine guns, grenade launchers and sniper rifles. Special attention was paid to demonstrations of modern NATO equipment.
The platoon commander of the 140th separate reconnaissance battalion of the Marines, codenamed Red, showed that the Ukrainian army uses not only Soviet models, but also modern national technologies that are actively used at the front.

There were also newcomers among the participants of the training. They emphasized the importance of having basic skills, as the war is ongoing and knowledge of medicine, equipment and weapons is very important for everyone.
The women noted that the training would help them understand how to better help their husbands at the front. Others noted that now not only the military but also civilians need to know how to use weapons.
The training lasted three hours. Participants gained knowledge about hand-held mortars, grenade launchers and even drones, which have become indispensable on the battlefield. The next training is scheduled for February 2025.
Today, there is no unified military training program, and the full list of topics and algorithms depends on the instructors. The main areas of focus are mine danger, small arms, interactive multimedia shooting range and tactical medicine.
Earlier, in one of the lyceums in Mykolaiv region, rescuers together with students and teachers conducted a training session on rapid evacuation in case of fire or other emergency. After the evacuation drill, the SES conducted a safety lesson. During the lesson, the participants learned how to act in case of detection of explosive devices.
In addition, Mykolaiv organized emergency response drills. For two days, they tested the speed and coordination of local services in a crisis. The exercise consisted of a theoretical part and practical exercises that practiced interaction during the elimination of man-made, natural or military emergencies.
