Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kherson Universities Receive ₴24.6M for Research in 2025

In 2025, universities in Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Kherson regions will receive more than UAH 24 million to support basic and applied research.

The relevant order was published on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

In particular, the funding was distributed among nine higher education institutions in the region:

Mykolaiv universities: UAH 7 million 105 thousand

  • Petro Mohyla Black Sea National University - UAH 780 thousand.
  • Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding - UAH 3 million 415 thousand.
  • Mykolaiv National Agrarian University - UAH 2 million 910 thousand.

Odesa universities: UAH 12 million 918 thousand

  • Mechnikov Odesa National University - UAH 9 million 38 thousand.
  • National University "Odesa Polytechnic" - UAH 2 million 520 thousand.
  • Odesa National Maritime University - UAH 680 thousand.
  • South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after Ushynsky - UAH 680 thousand.

Kherson universities: UAH 4 million 616 thousand

  • Kherson National Technical University - UAH 2 million 100 thousand.
  • Kherson State Maritime Academy - UAH 2 million 516 thousand.

The total amount of funding is UAH 24 million 639 thousand.

Among the projects that will receive support, special attention was paid to developments in the field of environmentally friendly technologies and energy efficiency. For example, the National University of Shipbuilding is working on researching the use of ammonia as a fuel for hybrid energy systems with gas turbine engines. The total cost of this project is UAH 3 million.

The MES website explains that research funding is aimed at supporting innovation and regional development, as well as increasing the competitiveness of Ukrainian universities internationally.

Recently, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine supported the merger of two universities in Mykolaiv. The new educational institution will be named UKRoP.

Earlier, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine revoked the license of the International Technological University "Mykolaiv Polytechnic" to conduct educational activities in the field of higher education.
