Mykolaiv continues to improve safety conditions for children in educational institutions. One of the city's kindergartens has completed the arrangement of a shelter that was created for the safe stay of children during emergencies.
This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv City Council.
The project was made possible with the financial support of the Danish Government and the International Organization for Migration. The ventilation system was installed by the Education Department of Mykolaiv City Council.
The new shelter occupies two rooms with a total area of 215 square meters. It is designed for 200 children and 40 employees.
Previously, it was an ordinary basement, but after repairs and reconstruction, including a half-meter deepening, relocation of utilities and installation of new walls, floors, ventilation, sanitary rooms and a medical corner, it became a comfortable and safe place for children.
The shelter is provided with the necessary supply of drinking water and a reverse osmosis water purification system. In addition, for the children's convenience, the room is equipped with furniture and games, which allows them to spend time in the shelter in a fun and interesting way.
The director of the kindergarten, Ms. Iryna, expressed her gratitude to everyone who contributed to the project. The shelter has already passed the commission. In the near future, this institution will be able to accept kids.
We also set up shelters in the gymnasium of Zavodskyi district. The shelter has an area of 792 square meters and is designed for 1213 students. It is divided into four sections: separate for primary and secondary schools, a medical room, sanitary rooms and an administrative area.
In the spring, a modern school shelter was also opened in the same area. This is a real underground school where about 1000 children can study in two shifts. The entire space is divided into zones where classes can be held. It is also possible to hold extracurricular activities there. The shelter was equipped with appropriate equipment, high-quality furniture and everything necessary for the educational process.
As of today, 27 schools already have the simplest shelters. This is 42% of the total number of general secondary education institutions. Works are ongoing in 15 schools, which is 23.4%.
It is also planned to create inclusive groups in Mykolaiv educational institutions and ensure the safety of education. The measures envisaged by the education program will be funded by a state subvention. In addition, the members of the Standing Committee were offered to amend the comprehensive education program for 2022-2024 and introduce meals for students in grades 1-4.
