Prosecutors from the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office filed a motion with the court requesting that the company’s chief accountant, who was accused of tax evasion, be exempted from criminal liability.

The prosecutor’s office explained its motion by noting that during the pretrial investigation, she fully compensated the state for the losses incurred—6 million hryvnias in unpaid income tax, as well as over 180,000 hryvnias in fines.

According to the investigation, the chief accountant of the company, which deals in mobile phone accessories and components, filed an income tax return containing inaccurate information in the first quarter of this year.

Specifically, she failed to report in the financial statements non-repayable financial assistance received from another company in the amount of over 33 million hryvnias. Under the law, such funds are considered company income and are subject to taxation. As a result of these actions, the state budget lost more than 6 million hryvnias in revenue.

Prosecutors from the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office notified the official that she was suspected of intentional tax evasion on a large scale. After the violation was uncovered, the suspect fully compensated the state for the losses incurred and paid the financial penalties prescribed by law. In light of this, prosecutors filed a motion with the court to exempt her from criminal liability in accordance with the law.

For this offense, the woman faceda fine ranging from five thousand to ten thousand non-taxable minimum incomes, with or without the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years.
