A British offshore company has been granted a license to explore for hydrocarbons off the coast of Crimea

A company based in the British Virgin Islands has received a permit to extract hydrocarbons off the coast of Crimea. It is engaged in geological exploration and the development of oil and gas fields on the Prikerchensky Shelf of the Black Sea.

In total, the analyzed list identified five companies that have representatives from Russia, either directly or indirectly. Two of them are likely re-registered under Russian law.
In total, the “Express Analysis” factor in YouControl—indicating “likely registered under Russian law”—applied to 61 companies in the sample. These are predominantly legal entities from temporarily occupied regions—the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, and the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Other types of links between companies and the Russian Federation can also be identified. Of all the companies analyzed, 24 belong to a holding company (group) in which another participant is registered under the laws of the Russian Federation.
In particular, an international manufacturer of snacks, chocolate, and cookies—represented in Ukraine by companies that hold special permits for mineral extraction—has a subsidiary in Russia. Another 27 legal entities from the list under review are co-owners of Russian organizations, either directly or through their participants, shareholders, ultimate beneficial owners, or officers.
Previously,the Odesa region ranked second in terms of the number of companies with Bulgarian owners. Thirty-nine suchcompanies are registered in the region. Only Kyiv has more—123.
