Organizers of Brain Fest in Odesa told how to support young people through innovation

In June, Odesa hosted the youth festival Brain Fest: "Summer of Ideas, organized as part of the R&D Hub South project.
More than 25 student teams from colleges and vocational schools presented their innovative developments in a startup battle format.
Valeriy Bolgan, host of Intent.Insight, spoke to the project founders Pavlo Lub and Oleksandr Hoffman live on air about how to support young people, stimulate entrepreneurship, and create space for the development of talented Ukrainians, and why it is important.
Three teams from Odesa educational institutions became the winners of Brain Fest:
- The first place was taken by the team from Odesa Pedagogical Professional College "Honest and Open". They have developed an online support platform for teenagers and young people with the possibility of anonymous communication, sharing stories about difficult topics: bullying, domestic violence, psychological difficulties, loneliness.
- The second place was taken by the FeedPaws team from the Mechanical and Technology College of Odesa National Technological University. Their idea is an engineering and social project of a smart feeder for stray cats with face recognition, dosed feed and water supply, video surveillance, and personalized animal accounting.
- The third place went to the Falcon's Nest team from the Odesa Professional Lyceum of the Service Sector of the K.D. Ushynsky National Pedagogical University. They have developed the Falcon's Nest eco-bag for FPV drones, which allows them to safely deliver water, medicine and other essentials to the military in the combat zone.
Every week, Intent.Insight looks at one issue that worries Ukrainians and raises topical questions and tries to solve specific problems. For example, the June 24 episode was devoted to the problems faced by children in Ukraine and Odesa, the situation with orphanhood, and the challenges of wartime. The host and editor-in-chief of Intent, Valeriy Bolgan, spoke to Yulia Nikandrova on air.
