Most of the companies that got rid of the Russian trace are registered in Kyiv - 47 or 50.5% of all such companies, and in Odesa region there are eight such companies (8.6%), which puts the region in second place.
According to Opendatabot analysts, Poltava region is in the bottom three with five companies (5.4%).
In total, according to analysts, more than 18,000 companies in Ukraine had Russian owners as of the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Over the past six months, 93 companies have fictitiously removed their Russian owners despite the legal ban. By May 2024, there were 621 such businesses. Opendatabot has already sent an appeal to the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine to check the legality of such re-registrations.
19.4% of de-Russified companies are engaged in wholesale trade. Another 12.9% specialize in real estate transactions, and 9.7% in construction. Almost half of the companies with a Russian footprint will have revenues of up to UAH 10 million in 2023. Between UAH 10 million and UAH 100 million were earned by 12.9% of businesses. Only two companies managed to earn more than UAH 100 million.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukraine has had a moratorium on changing the registration data of companies with Russian owners, except in a few cases clearly defined by law. If the change of ownership was carried out illegally, it means that Russian businesses continue to operate in Ukraine, circumventing legal restrictions.
Earlier, Odesa region was among the top three regions of Ukraine where foreign citizens were most active in setting up businesses in 2024. According to the Unified State Register, more than 1,100 new companies with foreign owners were registered in Ukraine last year. This is 24.2% less than in 2023 and 60% less than in 2021. Most of these businesses were opened in Kyiv (542 companies, 48.9%), Lviv (137 companies, 12.4%), and Odesa (122 companies, 11%).
