Local enterprises in Odesa region lost 37 billion in revenue

In 2024, the revenues of Ukraine's largest companies increased by 15% to UAH 8.2 trillion, despite the war and economic challenges. Meanwhile, local businesses in Odesa region lost 37 billion hryvnias in revenue.

In 2024, Ukraine's one thousand largest companies collectively received UAH 8.2 trillion in net income, which is 15% more than last year. Despite the war, big business retains the ability to make money and remain profitable.
Compared to 2023, the composition of the top 1000 has changed by 22%. The largest revenue growth was recorded in machine building, light industry, agriculture, chemical and coke industries, and advertising and marketing. Energy, metallurgy, and pharmaceuticals strengthened their positions in total revenue. On the other hand, the coal industry, IT, wholesale trade, and hotel and restaurant business saw a decline in revenues.
The highest increase in revenues was recorded in Zakarpattia - +97% over the year. Meanwhile, in Odesa and Kharkiv regions, revenue declined due to military risks. In particular, in Odesa region, the share of the top 1000 in revenues fell by 0.9 percent, which is minus UAH 37 billion.

426 of the top 1000 companies are registered in Kyiv. Companies in Dnipro, Kyiv, Lviv, and Zaporizhzhia regions accounted for another 26 percent of revenues. Odesa region is in the second five, with a share of 2.7% (previously - 3.6%).
Large companies continue to concentrate in relatively safe regions. Odesa region, like Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Kherson regions, lost some of its activity due to the hostilities.
In 2024, 216 companies left the rating. Most of them were from oil and gas, wholesale and retail trade. They were replaced by agricultural and pharmaceutical companies.
Kyiv added UAH 570 billion in revenue (+15%). Dnipropetrovska (+175 billion, +20%) and Poltava (+62 billion, +38%) regions also saw significant growth. Zakarpattia became the leader in terms of growth (+97%, +UAH 34 billion). Lviv region showed a modest increase of +0.8%.
Odesa region showed the largest decline in its share: -0.9 percentage points (minus UAH 37 billion). Declines were also recorded in Kharkiv (-0.4), Donetsk (-0.3), and Sumy (-0.1) regions.
Zaporizhzhia (+UAH 48 billion) and Mykolaiv (+UAH 32 billion) regions, despite their proximity to the frontline, recorded an increase in revenues and a growing share in total revenues.
At the same time, in the first half of 2025, 18,277 new companies were registered in Ukraine, including 1,198 in Odesa region. During this period, 425 companies were opened in Mykolaiv region, and only 63 in Kherson region.
