The Kherson Prosecutor's Office is investigating more than 25,000 cases against Russia. In addition, numerous economic frauds were uncovered in 2024.

According to the press service of the department, 25,609 criminal proceedings on war crimes are currently under investigation. 164 people have been notified of suspicion, 150 indictments have been submitted to court, and 20 people have already been convicted.

In addition, prosecutors are working to expose collaborators, fire adjusters, and enemy aiders and abettors. In 2024, in these cases:

  • 1,015 people were notified of suspicion,
  • 917 indictments were submitted to court,
  • 202 traitors have already been sentenced.

Investigations into 13 criminal proceedings against the correctors and gunners whose actions led to the destruction of civilian and military targets have also been completed.

The prosecutor's office paid considerable attention to financial crimes and the illegal use of state resources. Over the year:

  • court proceedings were initiated for UAH 983.9 million,
  • assets worth UAH 1.5 billion were recovered by court decisions
  • court decisions worth over UAH 2 billion were enforced,
  • 1031 hectares of land were returned to state ownership.

The Prosecutor's Office has also stepped up its efforts to prevent embezzlement of budget funds, control the maintenance of protective structures, and combat drug trafficking.

Protecting children from violence and monitoring the observance of their rights remains an important area.

Recently, the Beryslav District Prosecutor's Office defended the interests of the state by returning land plots totaling almost 38 hectares to the Kherson region's forest fund.

Meanwhile, in the United States, the University of Berkeley hosted a unique exhibition dedicated to Russia's environmental crimes in Ukraine. The organizers presented evidence of ecocide: photo and video materials collected on the Svidok.org platform, where Ukrainians can document the environmental consequences of the war.
