In February, the volume of grain transfer decreased at the borders with Poland, Romania, and Hungary. At the same time, there is an increase in grain transportation on the border with Slovakia.
This was reported by Valeriy Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Department of Transportation Technology and Commercial Work of Ukrzaliznytsia JSC.
According to him, the decrease in the average daily transfer of cars is observed at the crossings to Poland (by 25%) and Romania (by 43.3%). Hungary showed a slight decrease of 7.31%, but Slovakia, on the contrary, showed a significant increase of 51.64%.
Overall, the average daily transfer of grain cargo for 12 days in February increased by 6.98%. Border crossings are operating normally and are utilized at 50% of their technical capacity.
In terms of wagon handling at Ukrainian seaports, the ports of Greater Odesa are currently unloading between 1000 and 1500 wagons of grain per day.
The average unloading rate for the last week decreased by 7.98% to 1280 railcars. The number of railcars moving in the direction of these ports increased from 5434 to 5528 railcars (+1.73%).
The port of Izmail saw a 33.33% increase in unloading, from 39 to 52 railcars per day.
Every day, 53-56 freight trains are brought to the Odesa hub. However, Ukrzaliznytsia has the technical capability to increase deliveries after the Voznesenskiy bridge is opened.
Meanwhile, after a long break, the Turkish company Medkon Lines has resumed container transportation on the Istanbul-Gebze-Odesa route. The first container ship has already arrived at the port of Odesa since the start of the full-scale invasion.
Meanwhile, a modern grain transshipment terminal was opened in the port of Chornomorsk in Odesa region. It has already started its work. The idea to build it came up at the beginning of the war when the company saw prospects in grain transshipment. The new terminal has a loading capacity of up to 8 thousand tons per day. It is capable of handling vessels with a deadweight of up to 30,000 tons, and the simultaneous grain storage capacity is 33,000 tons.
