Mykolaiv is facing an acute shortage of skilled technicians, which is needed by both large enterprises and smaller businesses.
This became known during a roundtable discussion entitled "Synergy of Stakeholders and Vocational Education - Partnership for the Future" organized by Mykolaivvodokanal and the Department of Education and Science of Mykolaiv Regional State Administration. Representatives of business and educational institutions were looking for solutions to address the staff shortage.
Borys Dudenko, Director of Mykolaivvodokanal, emphasized that the company needs specialists capable of mastering the latest technologies to operate the modern equipment it received from its partners. In particular, the company is in dire need of mechanics, drivers and excavators.
Alla Velikhovska, Head of the Department of Education and Science, noted that training workers is especially important in the context of the country's post-war reconstruction. In her opinion, motivating vocational school students to stay in Mykolaiv should be a priority.
The roundtable participants agreed that enhanced cooperation between businesses and vocational education institutions, the organization of internships for students, and familiarization with the technical base while they are still studying are key steps to solving the problem.
The director of Mykolaivvodokanal invited those interested in working at the company to contact its HR department.
Earlier, Intent wrote that the warin Ukraine and the related mobilization led to a significant shortage of bus drivers in Mykolaiv. Currently, there is a shortage of about a hundred workers.
The war in Ukraine has exacerbated the labor shortage, so the government decided to expand opportunities for women. The program provides free training in more than 30 specialties at the request of employers. Among the professions available for training are tram driver, machine operator, milling machine operator, renewable energy system installer, and more.
