Winter readiness check at South Ukrainian NPP

South Ukrainian NPP is ready to carry winter loads - this conclusion was reached by a commission consisting of representatives of Energoatom and the State Energy Supervision Service of Ukraine, which worked at the enterprise from October 7 to 11.

This was reported by the Pivdenoukrainska website.

In preparation for the seasonal decrease in temperature, 193 organizational and technical measures were taken. These include inspection, repair and maintenance of heat and electrical equipment, heating, water supply, sewerage and ventilation networks. In preparation for the winter period, buildings and structures were also repaired, glazed, vehicles and snow removal equipment were checked and ensured to be in good working order, and de-icing material was delivered.

"South Ukraine NPP has completed a significant amount of work. As of the beginning of October, one hundred percent of organizational and technical measures were implemented as planned. The enterprise is ready for the autumn-winter period. During the inspection, there were certain comments, but they have already been partially eliminated, the rest are being worked on, because it takes a little more time," said Petro Zanyborshch, Chairman of the Energoatom Commission for the inspection of the readiness of the PANPP for winter operation.

Based on the results of the inspections and walkthroughs, a corresponding certificate of readiness of the enterprise for operation in the cold season was drawn up. In addition to the South Ukrainian NPP, it will be sent to NNEGC Energoatom and the State Energy Supervision of Ukraine.

On October 8, Russian kamikaze drones again violated the no-fly zone around the South Ukrainian NPP. Energoatom emphasized that the number of recorded flights of Russian drones has recently increased significantly, which may indicate that Russia is preparing for attacks on Ukrainian nuclear infrastructure. Energoatom transmits information about each such case to the relevant state authorities, which, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, send notes to the International Atomic Energy Agency and inform national and international organizations.

Earlier, Intent reported that experts had analyzed the measures taken by Energoatom and Ukrhydroenergo to prevent blackouts, including the construction of protective structures for key energy infrastructure facilities. The total value of orders for the protection of the South Ukrainian NPP amounted to UAH 140 million.
