The Mykolaiv region plans to partially resume production at the Bashtanka cheese plant after relocation, but the key problem remains the lack of raw milk.

This was announced by Vladyslav Dmytriv, head of the Bashtanka district military administration, Ukrinform reports .

According to him, representatives of the Milk Alliance group of companies, to which the enterprise belongs, are currently considering the possibility of returning part of the production to the territory of the Bashtanka district. The plant needs about 100 tons of milk per day to operate properly. However, due to the hostilities, the number of cattle in the region has decreased by 60-70%.

To stabilize dairy production, a number of issues need to be resolved: providing a fodder base, demining areas for grazing and revising milk purchase prices.

According to Dmytriv, life in the district is gradually returning to normal: residents are returning home and private milk collectors are delivering raw materials to other regions, such as Kryvyi Rih and Voznesensk. However, the number of milk trucks operating in the region has significantly decreased compared to the pre-war period.

"There is one more thing - most people of retirement age are left in the villages. It is difficult for them to keep cattle, so we are waiting for our Victory and the return of our defenders," he added.

It is noted that during the war in Mykolaiv region, 207 industrial enterprises were damaged, including the Bashtanka cheese plant. Due to the damage, the company was relocated to another region.

It should be added that the products of Bashtanka Cheese Plant are known under the Slavia trademark.

The government approved the program to relocate enterprises in the war zone in the spring of 2022. According to the Opendatabot platform, in the year and a half since the start of the great war, as of the end of September 2023, 840 companies have moved to safer regions under the relocation program.

Relocation is a change of place of residence or location of an enterprise.

The program aims to assist businesses in moving their equipment to safe areas, finding production facilities, and resettling employees.

Meanwhile, Odesa region became the second region of Ukraine by the number of companies that have relocated since the beginning of 2022.
