A tender has been announced in Mykolaiv to find a contractor to sort waste. Once the sorting line is built, the amount of waste will be reduced by up to thirty percent.

This is evidenced by the Announcement No. 330, which was approved by the order of the Department of Housing and Communal Services of the Mykolaiv City Council dated 04.10.2024.

According to the document, the tender proposal must be submitted in person or sent by mail to the tender committee. Bids can be submitted until 10.00 a.m. on November 12, 2024. The tender is scheduled to be held at 13.00. The application form can be arbitrary.

The tender documentation must be submitted no later than 2 business days from the date of receipt of the application for participation in the tender.

The waste sorting entity must also transfer funds to the current account of Mykolaivkomuntrans on a monthly basis for the maintenance of the city's solid waste landfill. The percentage of remuneration is calculated from the amount of income received for the sale of sorted household waste for the current month.

Among the requirements:

  • availability of equipment that meets the technical requirements;
  • availability of an own concept of the Complex's operation or investment program;
  • timeframe for the full operation of the Complex;
  • experience in implementing and implementing waste management projects;
  • availability of own land plot;
  • the ability to install equipment for power supply of the Complex, which will allow to completely or partially abandon external centralized power supply networks.

The tender was announced in accordance with the decision to approve the procedure for the tender for the construction of a waste sorting station, which was recently adopted by the deputies of Mykolaiv City Council at a plenary session.

Earlier, at a meeting of the Standing Committee, Ihor Nabatov, First Deputy Director of the Housing and Communal Services Department, explained that after the project was approved at the session, a tender would soon be announced to select a company to implement the project. It is planned that after the tender, the winner will be engaged in the construction of the sorting line and its further operation.

The funds for the development of a feasibility study for the construction of the Household Waste Recycling Complex were reallocated by the Executive Committee of Mykolaiv City Council in March 2024.

The draft decision proposed to reallocate funds from the object "Reconstruction of the street and road network on Khersonske Highway" to the object "New construction of a household waste treatment complex in Mykolaiv". The issue of waste treatment has become more urgent as the city's landfill is nearing the end of its useful life.
