Mykolaiv will start modernizing its street lighting. A tender has already been announced for the purchase of the relevant equipment to save energy. It is planned to spend almost UAH 6 million for this purpose.

According to the Center for Public Investigations, information about the tender is posted on the Prozorro website.

The customer was the municipal enterprise GDMB (Self-supporting Construction Mechanization Section).

The tender was announced on September 10. The process of submitting proposals is open until September 18, and the auction is scheduled for the same day in the format of open bidding with special features. The total amount is UAH 5 million 850 thousand.

These funds will be used to purchase 65 two-section panels for street lighting control. According to the tender documentation, these panels must have a sloping roof, a plinth, a foundation, be made of polyester and reinforced fiberglass, and have a warranty of at least 60 months.

The technical specifications state that the system with such panels automatically adjusts the power and brightness of the lighting, which can significantly save energy by reducing the power of the lamps at night.

In early August, Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych reported that the city was in the process of replacing old streetlights with energy-efficient LED lamps.

Since the beginning of Russia' s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, street lighting in Mykolaiv has been turned off. It was restored only in January 2023.

In just one year, more than 4,000 energy-saving LED lamps of various capacities were installed in Mykolaiv. In 2023, the city's street lighting cost more than UAH 46.2 million.

In June, the mayor of Mykolaiv ordered to turn off street and road lighting, outdoor advertising, and lanterns in parks.

Due to the emergency situation in the energy system caused by Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine and taking into account the order of the Cabinet of Ministers, the mayor ordered to take measures to save electricity.

Thus, the Department of Housing and Communal Services, the self-supporting construction mechanization unit and Mykolaiv Parks were asked to limit the lighting of the street and road network and parks.
