Government allocates EUR 50 million to Ukrainian ports

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated 50 million euros of EU budget support for the repair and improvement of port infrastructure, including the port of Odesa.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development, the funds will be used to support the functioning and development of seaports, overhaul the Odesa seaport overpass, and equip port infrastructure and protect it.

"This is a significant contribution to the sustainable functioning of Ukrainian ports, which continue to operate and increase cargo turnover despite the military challenges. Thanks to this, we remain a reliable partner and food guarantor for many countries around the world, even in such a difficult time for us," said Deputy Minister Timur Tkachenko.

Since the beginning of 2024, the volume of cargo handled by Ukrainian seaports has amounted to 91.1 million tons, of which 89.9 million tons were transported in the period from January to November.

In November, the Odesa branch of the state-owned Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority held a tender to select a contractor for the overhaul of the third stage of the port's transport overpass. The tender was held on October 18 and the winner was Avtostrada Group of Companies LLC. The competitor was Avtomagistral-Pivden LLC. Avtostrada Group of Companies LLC agreed to work for UAH 771 million 770 thousand, which is UAH 194 million 30.4 thousand less than the expected procurement cost.

Prior to that, the Odesa branch of the state-owned enterprise Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority held a tender to select a contractor to be paid for the overhaul of roads. The company expects to spend UAH 21 million 476.2 thousand on the second and third stages of construction simultaneously, and if the agreement is concluded, the work will have to be completed by December 31, 2025.
