President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is being asked to cancel or reconsider the granting of one thousand hryvnias to each citizen.
The corresponding petition was published on the website of the President's Office and has already gained the required 25 thousand votes. Now the head of state has to respond to it.
The author of the petition, Roman Stahn, proposed to make the payments targeted to support those who really need help - pensioners, low-income families, large families and internally displaced persons.
Stahn emphasizes that universal payments will not be meaningful for middle-income households, and the lack of targeting may reduce the effectiveness of support. According to him, clear targeted funding will increase payments to those in need.
The author emphasized that due to the shortcomings of some executive authorities, there is a surplus of funds that cannot be used for the Armed Forces, but can be redirected to government programs that require additional funding. For example, the eOselya program, which provides housing at a reduced rate, demonstrates high demand and importance.
Roman Stan called on the government to pay attention to the targeted approach when implementing the program to distribute thousands of hryvnias so that the real needs of citizens are met to the maximum extent possible.
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the terms of the Winter is Support program initiated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The program provides for a one-time allowance of UAH 1,000 to every citizen of Ukraine. Only those Ukrainians who are in Ukraine will be able to receive the money from the state.
On October 25, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed the government to implement a new social assistance program that provides for the payment of 1,000 hryvnias to each citizen. The program will start on December 1. The government has previously introduced similar support measures. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ukrainians received UAH 1000 for vaccination, and at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, residents of the affected regions received a one-time allowance of UAH 6500 through the ePidderzhka program.
Earlier, Intent wrote that fraudsters promise Ukrainians to quickly get a "thousand from the state" disguised as the Ministry of Social Policy.
