The shelling of "Sandora" has caused millions in damage to the environment in the Mykolaiv region

As a result of Russian shelling of the "Sandora" plant in the Mykolaiv region, more than 951 metric tons of pollutants were released into the atmosphere. The vast majority of the emissions consist of carbon dioxide.
This was reported by the State Environmental Inspection of the Southwestern District.
The total damage from the fires at the plant amounted to nearly three million hryvnias.
The fire, caused by Russian strikes, broke out on July 6 at the PepsiCo facility, which manufactures Sandora products. The fire lasted about two hours. The blaze engulfed warehouse facilities covering an area of 4,000 m².
On August 29, several drone strikes again caused a fire at the production complex. The fire lasted more than five hours, and the area affected by the blaze was 8,000 m². The work of the State Emergency Service units was significantly hampered by the security situation. Due to the threat of repeated attacks, rescue workers were forced to retreat to a safe distance and later return to extinguish the fire.
PepsiCo operates in Ukraine through a network of facilities in the Mykolaiv region. The company is represented in the market by the brands “Sandora,” “Sadok,” Pepsi, 7UP, Mirinda, and Lipton Ice Tea.
The company’s production has been affected by the war on more than one occasion. Due to its proximity to the front lines, PepsiCo relocated its plant in the Mykolaiv region to Vyshneve, near Kyiv, in 2022. However, in September 2023, a fire caused by a missile strike destroyed the dairy products warehouse and production facilities there. The company was forced to import its main product, Pepsi, from abroad.
