Popular beach disappeared in Crimea after "improvement"

In Sevastopol, the occupation authorities of the Russian Federation illegally destroyed the Skalki beach in the Quarantine Bay area. Even Russian services have recognized the violation.
According to Suspilne, the recreation area, which previously consisted of large stone boulders, was turned into a gentle shore during the work.
According to the publication, the work was carried out as part of a project to improve the area near the monument to the end of the Civil War in southern Russia and to build hydraulic structures and a new beach.
However, according to Rosprirodnadzor, these works were carried out without the necessary environmental approvals. In particular, as of February 27, 2026, there was no positive conclusion of the state environmental examination.
During the inspection of the water protection zone and the Black Sea, the inspectors found violations of several federal laws and the Water Code of the Russian Federation by the persons who carried out work in the Quarantine Bay.
As a result, the violators were warned against violating environmental laws.
The destruction of Skalki beach became known in February 2026.
What is known about the Skalki beach?
Skalki Beach in Sevastopol was a small but well-known vacation spot among locals. Tourists hardly ever visited it, but Sevastopol residents appreciated it for its relative quietness and natural view of the coast.
The beach was conventionally divided into two parts - a public and a "wild" one. Both were located under low rocky slopes, so the shore was in the shade in the morning.
It should be added that during the years of occupation, the Russian authorities destroyed or made inaccessible hundreds of beaches in Crimea: their number decreased from 573 to 350. The reasons for this are massive construction of the coast, destruction of sewage treatment plants, pollution of the sea with fuel and ammunition, and militarization - turning the coast into military positions.
