Water supply problem in Crimea worsens due to drought

The water supply situation in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea is rapidly deteriorating. The main reasons for the aggravation of the problem are prolonged drought and a critical decrease in the water level in local reservoirs.
This was reported by the National Resistance Center.
In some settlements of the peninsula, water supply restriction schedules have already begun to operate. Moreover, in some areas, people are forced to collect water from natural sources, which are often unsuitable for consumption.
Russian officials on the peninsula say they are looking for ways to stabilize the water supply, but no concrete and systematic plans to address the crisis have been presented. Amid the growing crisis, local occupation authorities are discussing the introduction of temporary water supply schedules and the use of tanker trucks to deliver technical moisture.
Experts note that such operational measures can only delay the development of the disaster. Sustainable water supply to the peninsula requires systematic steps that the occupation administration has not yet taken.
As a reminder, Mykolaiv is implementing an initiative aimed at improving the efficiency of the city's water supply. The project entitled "Unrevenue Water: Reconstruction of the Water Supply System in a Selected Area of Mykolaiv" has already entered the design stage.
The reconstruction will cover 36 streets of the Korabelnyi district, and the total length of the pipelines to be renovated will be about 23 kilometers. The main goal of the project is to significantly reduce water losses and increase the energy efficiency of water supply.
Funding for the work is provided by a grant from the Danish Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, managed by the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO). Mykolaiv City Council and NEFCO signed the grant agreement back in 2024.
According to the mayor, the experience gained in the Korabelnyi district is planned to be scaled up to the entire regional center.
