As a result of the shelling on February 19, administrative and warehouse buildings in the Peresypskyi district of Odesa caught fire, covering 1,000 square meters.
This was reported by the press service of the State Ecological Inspectorate of the Southwestern District.
Almost 80 tons of carbon dioxide, a substance that accelerates global warming, was released into the air.
The estimated damage caused by the air pollution amounted to UAH 242 thousand. All the data has already been transferred to the Operational Headquarters of the State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine to be included in the unified register of environmental damage caused by military aggression.
At that time, massive Russian shelling of a residential area of Odesa caused large-scale disruptions in electricity and heat supply. 14 schools, 13 kindergartens and more than 500 residential buildings in a large neighborhood were left without electricity and heating.
The inspectors also measured the damage caused by the shelling of port infrastructure in Odesa district on February 4. Then a building caught fire over an area of 100 square meters. The fire led to significant emissions of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. According to quick estimates, the mass of these emissions amounted to 7 tons.
Then, for the second day in a row, Odesa and the region were under rocket and drone attacks by the occupiers. On the night of February 14, Russian troops launched a new attack with attack drones, once again targeting the region's port facilities. As a result of the shelling, a recreation center and a car were damaged and rendered inoperable in Odesa district. No people were injured.
In the evening of February 13, the air alert was announced twice in Odesa region. At 18:09, sirens sounded due to the threat of ballistic missile attacks from the south. The Air Force urged Odesa residents to stay in safe places. Immediately afterward, an explosion occurred in the city.
