The Department of Urban Development has announced a tender for the final stage of reconstruction of Lyceum No. 2, which was destroyed by enemy shelling. The expected cost of the work is UAH 264.9 million, and the reconstruction is planned to be completed by the end of 2027.
This became known from the data of the Prozorro electronic procurement system.
The actual allocation of funds from the state budget is expected only in 2026-2027 as part of the financing of the objects of the Fund for Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression. These funds will be used to partially restore the facades, interior decoration, installation of electrical equipment, and installation of an elevator for people with disabilities.
The project also provides for the complete arrangement of a protective shelter and landscaping of the interior of the institution. As of March 2026, 99.3 million has already been invested in the facility, and the overall readiness of the building is 40%. The previous contractor, Zhiloprombud-8, has already completed a significant amount of work, including restoring the roof, rebuilding destroyed parts of the walls, installing windows and laying the main internal communications.
The history of the restoration of Mykolaiv Gymnasium No. 2 began long before the Great War, when in March 2021 its premises were officially recognized as emergency. At that time, more than a thousand Mykolaiv residents supported a petition to preserve the school, which prompted the regional and city authorities to declare their readiness to jointly restore the building. Further research by experts showed that only a part of the roof was critically damaged, so the library and museum were moved out of one wing for safety reasons, although no overall threat to the educational process was seen.
Mayor Oleksandr Sienkiewicz planned to limit himself to routine repairs until the end of 2021, postponing large-scale reconstruction until the future. However, the full-scale invasion made tragic adjustments, as the building survived four enemy attacks, the first of which occurred in April 2022 due to the use of cluster munitions.
