Children's Film Festival Announces Winners

The jury of the 13th Children’s Film Fest—a Ukrainian film festival for children and teenagers—has announced this year’s winners.
According to the festival’s press office, the Grand Prix of 10,000 hryvnias was awarded to the film “Angels Are Surprised” by 12-year-old director Veronika Kostyukova from Ivano-Frankivsk.
The film “A Strange Job,” by 12-year-old director Mark Morozov from Lviv, was named Best Feature Film in the 7–14 age category and received 5,000 hryvnias. The film “The Adventures of a Coin,” directed by 8-year-old Danil Petruk from Netishyn, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, also received 5,000 hryvnias and was named the best animated film in the 7–10 age category.
The film “Ideal-NO-ity,” directed by 11-year-olds Adam Loshnevsky, Vsevolod Abrahamov, and Zlatoslava Sribna from the city of Khotyn, Chernivtsi Oblast; they also received a prize of 5,000 hryvnias.
The Audience Choice Award and 7,000 hryvnias went to the film “Where’s Your Trick?”, directed by 13-year-old Marta Romanch, from Kryvyi Rih.
The 13th Children’s Film Festival kicked off on June 12. Intent attended the opening in Odesa. For the second year in a row, the festival’s highlight in Odesa was an eco-initiative to collect plastic—caps and bottles—as part of the “Plastic Saves Lives” campaign.
The Children’s Film Festival isanannual international filmfestivalfor children and teenagers that introduces young Ukrainian audiences to both the latest European films and world cinema classics. The festival’s annual winning film is determined by a direct vote from the audience—upon entering the theater, each visitor receives a ballot to rate the film. The festival is organized by the film company “Arthouse Traffic” in collaboration with the NGO “The Art of Cinema.”
