Crimean Tatars of Odesa region celebrate their fifth anniversary

On December 12, the Crimean Tatars of Odesa celebrated its fifth anniversary in Odesa.
According to Valeriy Bolgan, editor-in-chief of Intent, who attended the celebration, volunteers who constantly work for the organization - weaving camouflage nets, helping with drones, and cooking pilaf - were awarded during the celebration.
A number of the organization's friends and partners, including Intent and Dumska, were also honored. Several creative performances took place, including the presentation of the Agyr ava ve Haytarma dance, Emine Urkumetova's song, and a small concert by Aziza Eskander.
The song "Red Viburnum" translated into Gagauz was also performed by a representative of the Gagauz Cultural Center.
Agyr ava ve Haytarma is a traditional dance of the Crimean Tatars. It is a ritual dance performed at weddings. There is a legend that in families, Agyr ava ve Haytarma was performed by the bride and groom, with a partition of translucent haze between them. The name of the dance consists of two parts - Agyr ava (literally, a heavy melody) and Khaytarma, a light, cheerful, repetitive melody. Since 1930, a stage version of the dance has been performed, where both parts of the dance are performed by pairs of women and men. After the deportation of the Crimean Tatars in 1944, the dance was performed in pairs.
The public organization "Crimean Tatars of Odesa Region" was founded in 2020 by Fevzi Mamutov, who is now a deputy of the Odesa Regional Council - the first Crimean Tatar in its history, Eskender Ablyametov, Eldar Mustfayev and Lunara Zeitullayeva.
