In Mykolaiv, a man intervened while military personnel were detaining a citizen suspected of deserting his unit. Two of the soldiers required medical attention.
This is according to a ruling by the Mykolaiv Central District Court.
According to investigators, the incident occurred on June 11 near the “City Center” shopping mall. Three military law enforcement officers, while performing their duties, checked the man’s documents and determined that he had deserted his military unit.
When the man tried to flee, the officers attempted to stop him. At that moment, another man witnessed the situation. According to the case file, he decided to interfere with the arrest and began assaulting the officers.
Initially, according to the investigation, he knocked one of the officers to the ground and kicked him four times in the torso and head. The victim sustained a traumatic brain injury, a concussion, a chest injury, and fractures of the fifth, sixth, and seventh ribs. Forensic medical reports classified these injuries as moderate in severity.
After that, the man attacked a second soldier. He punched him in the head, knocked him to the ground, and then continued to kick him in the face and torso. The victim sustained, among other injuries, a fracture of the metacarpal bone in his left hand and numerous bruises and abrasions. These injuries were also classified as moderate. The suspect managed to strike a third soldier in the face before fleeing the scene.
In June, the court remanded him in custody, setting bail at 66,560 hryvnias. The bail was posted, after which the man was subject to procedural obligations. The suspect himself admitted his guilt and, together with his defense attorney, did not object to the extension of these obligations. As a result, the court extended them until September 12, 2026.
Also, in early August in Odesa, a man opened fire on employees of the TCC and SP. As a result of the incident, four employees were injured.
