In the Mykolaiv region, a 56-year-old hospital director has been notified that he is suspected of professional negligence. He is accused of embezzling nearly 11 million in public funds.
This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police in Mykolaiv Oblast.
According to investigators, between 2021 and 2023, the hospital director signed monthly reports certifying that full medical services had been provided and ensured their submission to the National Health Service of Ukraine. Specifically, contracts were concluded in this manner under the medical guarantees program for the provision of inpatient medical care to patients with acute ischemic stroke, as well as inpatient and mobile palliative care for adults and children. In reality, the hospital lacked the specialists and necessary technical equipment to fulfill the terms of these contracts. Nevertheless, reports were submitted claiming that the services had been successfully provided. Consequently, the state suffered financial losses.
The penalty under the article under which the hospital director is charged carries a sentence of up to five years in prison, as well as disqualification from holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to three years, with or without a fine of up to seven hundred fifty non-taxable minimum incomes.
Earlier, a doctor from the Mykolaiv region was notified of suspicion of embezzling 4.6 million hryvnias through fraudulent documents; the funds were intended for the renovation of a district hospital. The contractor who was supposed to carry out the work has been placed on an international wanted list.
